The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago.
The second best time is now.
~Chinese proverb
The time crunch.
Often cited as “THE” reason why critical and necessary things can’t get done to improve sales results and lead generation.
But ask yourself these questions. If you know that you need to improve sales methods but you too”busy, busy, busy” to really substantively change things. And you have been “busy, busy, busy” for months or years. But relatively speaking your sales and income haven’t gone up? ….
… what exactly are you busy doing?
Selling, closing and lead generation doesn’t exactly rate up there with finding the lost Ark. Lots of people do these things fairly well.
People seem to have no time to do things right. But plenty of time to do things that are not moving them forward, and do them over and over again. Why is that?
For those of you elders like me who remember the “old days” of Zig and other sales trainers when “spaced repetition” was the key to change. The concept, which is still valid today is that you need to hear, read and practice something over and over again to learn something new or improve a skill. It takes weeks or months, especially for adult learners to get up to steam with new skills.
But no one talks about that today. Know why? Nobody would buy anything.
To quote Jack Nicholson “You can’t handle the truth.”
Well here is a truth.
If you are capable, relatively smart and a hard-worker and yet you are not earning to your potential…. and you have been trying hard for a long long time…. you need to face reality.
You are doing things right now that you think are necessary, but are not contributing to results.
You need to face reality and rip them out of your life. RIP them out of your life.
In sales productivity there are no “instant answers.” No magic scripts, no magic bullets, no “secret” flash of lightning thing that will turn your life around.
Improvements come as a result of process. Multiple steps. Practice and stumbles over time until things click.
In sales and lead generation, if you do the right things, you could feel confident that you are on the right path within 30 days and with 45-90 days of consistent step-by-step, brick-by-brick learning and implementation you can change your life. That is the real world.
So if for many months or years you have been lurching from one hot idea to the next under the illusion that you don’t have the 30-90 days to do it right, that you can only do things that will get you results “right now,” when do you give that up?
If 90 says ago, six months ago, one year ago, you had decided to implement a total process of change that might take 60-90 days to start cranking, your life would be very different now.
You have always had the time to do it right.
You have just chosen to spend that time doing other things.
Your time is now.
Go get em,
